![]() ![]() She assaulted his sanctum, and he bade his demon to attack her while he fled. The wizard’s plans were foiled, however, by a daring paladin who had hunted the wizard for weeks. In conclusion, it's pretty lame that the book turned out so by the numbers pure stupid good with an overly rigid MC and system when I saw a lot of potential in the idea.Once long ago, an evil wizard summoned a demon into the world, intending to use the demon’s grisly might in a nefarious scheme for power. It might have been cool to give him penalties if he did something out of character and a way for him to work on getting out of the restrictions instead of just forcing his body (and twisting reality around him) to do things he didn't want to do. When it comes to the system I feel that the author made it too rigid in what it allowed the MC to do. I don't know if that was the D&D character's influence or just his own white knight personality, but it got pretty grating pretty quick. In contrast to not accepting his reality, he accepted the limitations of the system and what it made him do/say pretty easily and just went with them without even trying to test them out and see what he could get away with.Īnother thing that annoyed me about the MC is his freaking sanctimoniousness. The only thing he seemed to care about was his "friend" who really wanted to bone him but he wasn't allowed to by the system and didn't really want to due to some kind of twisted moral reasons (to me he acted like a beta simp, but that's just my opinion). ![]() That was at least a month into his stay there. ![]() The MC lives in a fugue-like state in everything he does and didn't accept that the world he was in was real when I quit. When he went non-lethal with the assassin chick and allowed her to escape forced a "fuck this" out of me and I closed the file. ![]() I got to over 4h in the audiobook, so I'd guess that's around half, and couldn't take it anymore. At first, I thought the idea of having to use D&D mechanics was cool, but soon enough got frustrated by both the stupidity of the MC and the rigidity of the system. ![]()
